This
spectacular exhibition will bring together at the
MFA, its only U.S.
venue, the extraordinary late work of the founder of Impressionism, Claude
Monet. Between 1900 and his death in 1926, Claude Monet produced an astonishing
and innovative body of work that represents the height of his engagement
with color and light. Highlights of the exhibition include triumphant views
of his garden at Giverny and a starling
recreation of a water
lily exhibition organized by Monet in Paris in 1909. Luminous
views of London and
seductive paintings of
the canals and palaces
of Venice are also included in this exhibition. Monet in the
20th Century will culminate in an unparalleled
gathering of Monet’s last and greatest paintings: the
monumental water-lily
panels that are the triumph of his career.
This once-in-a-lifetime exhibition will feature many important paintings from all over the world, some of which have not been viewed in decades.
